Collection: Milan Gies
The latest series of Dutch photographer Milan Gies is an ode to his love for horses. A love that started very young age: before becoming a photographer Milan Gies was a professional show jumper. Despite Gies’ move to the arts and photography, he never let go of his love for horses.
During Gies’ active years in showjumping, the association with horses was different than in more recent years: animal wellbeing is a very relevant matter nowadays. Horses that cannot participate in equestrian sports are spending their last years in rest homes or pensions for elderly horses, where they are taken care of with lots of love. It’s in these rest houses where Gies photographed the intriguing images of this latest series.
